Hello,
Welcome! This is my recently re-organized Old Photos Project website! At this website I am currently displaying vintage photos from three era; "The Early Years" (all years prior to 1920), "The Roaring 20's and The Great Depression" (1920 through 1940), and "The War Years and Beyond" (1940 to 1960). My Old Photos Project is a collection of vintage photos that I collected from various sources that I think in some way represent past eras of the Western World. I feel that these photographic images are artifacts that represent ways that people lived during the various era that my Old Photos Project spans. In the same way that archaeological finds, once removed from their matrix, can only be used to loosely represent a people or culture that created those artifacts and not the individual artwork of a specific artist, these vintage photos were chosen by me for their ability to represent a stereotypical view of the people of the era that produced them. By comparing a vintage photo in my vintage photos collection archaeological artifacts, it is easy to see how they lose almost all association to the original subject matter and become representations of the culture that created them by taking them out of their original matrix. Photos in the Old Photos Project are meant to be only representational examples what people once looked like, dressed, and how they acted during the era that produced them.
To find out more information about why and how I created this website, please see my page The Old Photos Project . Also, check back periodically to find out if I have added any new images to my website by accessing my New Acquistions page.
All The Best,
Joshua Lane
