The other reason that I began posting inspirational and motivational quotes online at my Social Networking Website likes and dislikes. Because I found that this was what I looked forward to seeing when I logged in to my home page - a random quote from some website that does that sort of thing. I liked the random daily quotes that I read and I felt that others might enjoy reading quotes that I picked out to show others, too. This, mixed with my fascination at the entertaining and creative posts that a friend posts daily made me decide that I wanted to bring this sort of thing to others.
I began with quotes by Gandhi, Lennon, Franklin, and the usual famous people who spoke about peace and common sense, and branched out from there. I try to keep my posts to some common themes such as peace, wisdom, inspiration, art, music and so forth. What I worried about at first was that I had quoted way too many men, and that women were greatly left out of my choices of people to quote.
Then, as I looked for women to quote, I found that history has not been kind to women and that while I am sure that there are lots of great quotes by women, they have not been historically remembered the same way that men have been quoted. That women are often left out of history or not placed in positions of power historically is apparent by the lack of famous quotes in history by women. Of course there are some modern favorites like Maya Angelou and Indira Gandhi, however for the most part and for the ages, it has been the quotes of men that were recorded and quoted.
I do enjoy that people at my Social Networking Website know that I am alive and well with my continual posts. However, as I over analyze my situation, as I always do, I worry that my posting continual inspirational quotes at my Social Networking Website might make people think that I am knowledgeable about lots of worldly concepts and ways of thinking when really, I am not. While it can be said that I am now more able to articulate my thoughts in short simple and concise statements, I really just pick these quotes out from another website where they are listed by topic. So, I am really just propagating what others have saved as their quotes of famous people, hmm.
I also worry that I am overbearing in my daily posts. A few creative people really do post their daily thoughts and ramblings and I feel that my posts are not that creative and more just the dissemination of common sense information. Anyway, I just hope that I am more a helping hand to others and not a turned up nose with my daily quotes posts at my Social Networking Website.
By the way these are about my favorite of all the quotes that I have found to post;
"Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?" - Sun Tzu
"Call on God, but row away from the rocks."- Hunter S. Thompson
"Earth laughs in flowers." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
